3) The Dark Island Away to the west ward I'm longing to be, Where the beauties of heaven unfold by the sea Where the sweet purple heather blooms fragrant and free On a hilltop high above  - The Dark Island   Chorus Oh, isle of my childhood, I'm dreaming of thee, As the steamer leaves Oban and passes Tiree Soon I'll capture the magic that lingers for me When I'm back once more upon  - The Dark island   So gentle the sea breeze that ripples the bay Where the stream joins the ocean and young children play On the strand of pure silver I'll welcome each day And I'll roam forever more  - The Dark Island   True gems of the Hebrides bathed in the light Of the mid-summer dawning that follows the night How I yearn for the cries of the seagull in flight As they circle high above  - The Dark Island

5)The Phantom Fiddler There is a phantom Fiddler and he plays a fiddle true but ne’er a note or even a scratch is heard by me or you He plays throughout the country and he plays in every fair in every half-decent session he surely will be there He’ll get there early just to get the perfect spot his fiddle cradled on his knee he’s timed it to the dot He’ll have a pint sat by his chair he’ll rosin up his bow but folks the phantom fiddler only plays the tunes he knows he plays a jig and he plays a reel and he plays a polka too But when asked to play a solo he will surely answer No! Sit in close and you will see the air tween string and bow he’s living every note, but he’s miming every stroke It has been said that once before the fiddle met the bow but the beauty of the sound well it caused the fiddle to glow so they had him make a promise many moons ago he’d never play another note on his fiddle or his bow chorus now its been rumoured there’s a cure A cure that nobody knows but I have heard it whispered and this is how it goes One nogin of the pure poteen be held in each right hand saves our tongues from being bound as the music takes command One nogin of the pure poteen be dropped into his pint releases him from the promis that they had him made that night So now we know the cure folks its time to put to rights So raise your glasses one and all cause folks tonight’s the night! he plays a jig and he plays a reel and he plays a polka too But when asked to play a solo he will surely answer ...Yes! Instrumental

Though minds me o’ departed joys, departed never to return. Aft’ hae I roamed by bonnie Doon Tae see the rose and woodbine twine and ilka bird sang o’ its love and fondly sae did I o’ mine Wi lightsome heart I pu’d a rose Fu’ sweet upon its thorny stem but my fause love he stole my rose But Ah! he left the thorn wi me

7)The House O MacDonald Oh cruel is the snow that sweeps Glencoe and covers the grave o’ Donald Oh cruel was the foe that raped Glencoe and gone was the house o’ MacDonald They came in a blizzard we offered them heat a roof o’er their head, dry shoes for their feet we wined them. we dined them we ate of their meat and they slept in the house o’ MacDonald chorus They came in the night while the men were asleep this band of Argylls through snow soft and deep loke murdering foxes amongst helpless sheep they slaughtered the house o’ MacDonald chorus gaelic interlude chorus

lazy Days Was the first tune I ever wrote...ironically I did't find out until years later that it was a Strathspey! (Which delighted me!) Fleming and Stein were two incredible musicians I had the honour of working with during my time in Co Galway and Co Clare.

about

I Love This Album!! It represents our return home to Scotland, embracing our roots and starting from where we really belong! We had so much fun recording it, (Gary's first time in a studio!) and I am so happy with the results ... an honest, live album ... pretty much what you can expect to hear on the stage :D and a mix of my own original material with a modern interpretation of Scottish classics. Songs and Tunes.
